A check for $71,816 was presented to the Friends President, Henry Wright from Booksale Chairman, Paul Larson. The most successful year in booksale history. What a way to celebrate the 50th Anniversary.

You have a wonderful opportunity to do some Christmas shopping and stock up for winter reading at bargain prices when the Friends of the Waco-McLennan County Library holds its 50th annual book sale Nov. 1-4 at Waco’s Extraco Events Center.

50th year for book saleFrom its modest beginnings a half-century ago, the Friends of the Waco McLennan County Library annual book sale has grown into one of the largest sales of used books in the Southwest. During the four days of the sale more than 6,000 people are expected to walk through the doors, attracted by more than 100,000 books, DVDs, videos and CDs. Customers come from other states as well as Canada and Mexico.

You have two options for filling out the volunteer form.

Please read the Book Sale Volunteer Rules before filling out this form online.

  • Volunteer for Book Sale set up

    You must work a minimum of 3 hours to qualify to purchase a bag of books.

    Book purchase is only available for Tuesday and Wednesday set up day volunteers. See Book Sale Volunteer Rules for details.
  • Please fill in the times you will be able to work on set up days.

    Tuesday, October 30 - Time slots are filled.

    Wednesday, October 31 - 8:30 am to 12:30 pm

  • Volunteer After the Book Sale - Wrap Up

    Check Yes if you can work on wrap up day, Monday, November 5.

  • Volunteer During the Book Sale

    There is a box below where you can tell us if you can't work a full shift or request to work in a particular area.

    We will do our best to accommodate you. Seated jobs are limited.

    Let us know if you would like to work in a specific area (Big Spenders, porter, etc.) or if you have specific times you can work that do not coincide with our shift times.

Book Sale In-Kind Donation

  • 3,388 items were added to the Library’s collection from materials donated to the Friends Book Sale.  These items represent a combined value of $61,232 and accounted for 15.7% of the new items added to the library’s collection last year.  Books accounted for the largest number of items added followed by DVDs.

at the West Waco Library Meeting room. This meeting is open to all interested persons. The annual report will be presented along with the 2012 new member slate. This will be followed by a presentation by Ashley Thornton, Chairman of the Poverty Solutions Steering Committee for Waco.

The January board meeting will meet immediately following at 5 p.m. for election of the 2012-13 officers and quarterly board meeting.
